| 08:30-09:00 | Welcome and ICTVC opening Κλήμης Μαστορίδης | ΚΥΠΡΟΣ Ο Κλήμης Μαστορίδης εκδίδει το περιοδικό "Υφέν, βήμα για την τυπογραφία" από το 1998 και είναι συγγραφέας των βιβλίων "Θέματα αναπαραγωγής και εκτύπωσης" (1988, 1993, 1997, νέα έκδ. 2010) και "Casting the Greek Newspaper: a study of the morphology of the ‘ephemeris’ from its origins until the introduction of mechanical setting" (1999). Υπήρξε συνιδρυτής και πρόεδρος της Altervision SA και είναι Fellow της International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD) καθώς και του Institute of Paper, Printing and Publishing (IP3). Είναι διευθυντής του Ινστιτούτου Μελέτης και Έρευνας της Τυπογραφίας και Οπτικής Επικοινωνίας (ISTVC) καθώς και εμπνευστής και κινητήρια δύναμη του παγκόσμιου συνέδριου ICTVC (Ιούνιος 2002, 2004 & 2007 στη Θεσσαλονίκη, 2010 & 2013 στη Λευκωσία Κύπρου). Ο Κλήμης, που έχει διδακτορικό τίτλο (PhD in Typography and Graphic Communication) από το Πανεπιστήμιο του Reading, είναι Καθηγητής Τυπογραφίας και Γραφικής Επικοινωνίας στο Πανεπιστήμιο Λευκωσίας, όπου υπηρέτησε για έξι χρόνια ως Πρόεδρος του Τμήματος Σχεδιασμού και Πολυμέσων (2008–2014).

Mary Dyson | ΜΕΓΑΛΗ ΒΡΕΤΑΝΙΑ Mary Dyson has been an academic in the Department of Typography & Graphic Communication, University of Reading, UK for a long time. She studied experimental psychology leading to a PhD in perception, and then went on to teach theoretical and empirical approaches to typography and graphic communication. She supervised many research students over the years on quite diverse topics. Her most recent research interests were driven by a desire to bridge the gap between scientists and designers and find commonalities and she has collaborated on interdisciplinary research. |

Her recent research investigates how changing typographic presentation can influence users’ judgments and engagement with information across digital and traditional genres. She is affiliated to the Centre for Information Design Research (CIDR) and serves on the committee of the Information Design Association (IDA). She formerly worked as a senior designer across a range of genres in South Africa and the UK. |

Her teaching involves the practice, history and theory of visual communication design at an undergraduate and graduate level. She holds a PhD and an MA in the History of Design from the Royal College of Art and a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design. With her design practice, Marina contributes to the development of accessibility programs for visually impaired people. She worked as a tactile graphics production assistant at the National Centre for Tactile Diagrams, UK (2001), and since then she participated to the implementation of accessibility programs for the visually impaired at museums in the UK, USA, and Greece. |

| 15:30-16:00 | A short history of the US Department of Transportation (DOT) signs and symbols: 1974-1979 Wibo Bakker | ΚΙΝΑ Wibo Bakker (1974) works as assistant professor at the Industrial Design department of the Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (Suzhou, China). He is specialized in design history, graphic design and creativity theory. Lately he has become interested in information design and pictograms, carrying out research in the Netherlands, England, Germany and Japan. Bakker started his career studying graphic design at the ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in Arnhem (1991-1996). An internship at Pentagram Design (San Francisco), as well as jobs at several other design agencies, made him aware of national differences in design cultures. He has lectured internationally and is currently a member of the Dept. of Visual Communication at the National College of Art & Design, Dublin. Michael Twyman | ΜΕΓΑΛΗ ΒΡΕΤΑΝΙΑ Professor Michael Twyman’s long and distinguished career at the University of Reading has won international recognition. It began with his vision for a university course which combined intellectual and practical work in, what he later described as, ‘design for reading’. Established in 1968, it was the first course of its kind at a British university and led to the establishment of the Department of Typography & Graphic Communication in 1974. Since then generations of students have benefited from his approach to education that is inspirational, challenging and inclusive. In a constantly evolving discipline embracing every form of communication design, Michael Twyman led his students through the immense changes imposed by technology. His approach to design education, through typography, while integrating history, theory and practice has ensured that his legacy is far reaching and today universities and colleges throughout the world employ academics who studied under his guidance. His graduates occupy key positions at companies in fields as diverse as magazine and book publishing, information design, and wayfinding, with others helping to shape the future of digital companies such as Nokia, Adobe, Microsoft and Google. Michael Twyman has also contributed much to the educational programmes of international organisations like ICOGRADA (International Council of Graphic Design and Communication Assocations) and ATypI (Association Typographique Internationale). He is a recognised expert on the history of lithography and has many books and other publications to his name on subjects relating to the history of printing and graphic design and to theoretical aspects of typography and graphic language. His passion for embracing the wider spectrum of design in an historical context has led to the establishment of many internationally important archives including the Isotype Archive and Rickards Collection of Ephemera. He retired as Head of Department in 1998 but still teaches postgraduate students. His students have described their time on his courses at Reading as ‘deeply enabling’ and ‘inspirational’. He has greatly enhanced the reputation of the United Kingdom as a leader in design education.

Ειδικεύεται στην τυπογραφική και καλλιτεχνική επιμέλεια εκδόσεων, την οινική συσκευασία, την οπτική ταυτότητα και την επικοινωνία του πολιτισμού. Έργα του έχουν διακριθεί σε ελληνικούς και ευρωπαϊκούς διαγωνισμούς. Αρθρογραφεί συχνά για θέματα πολιτισμού και έχει δώσει διαλέξεις σε συνέδρια και ημερίδες για την τυπογραφία και την οπτική επικοινωνία. |

| 10:30-11:00 | Η βιτρίνα ως ελκυστής νοήματος Ιορδάνης Στυλίδης | ΕΛΛΑΔΑ Iordanis Stylidis, Assistant professor at the Department of Architecture, University of Thessaly, Greece, holds degrees in Architecture and in Economic Theory from the Aristotle University and the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece. Since 1980 he is constantly involved in multiple public arts practices, including solo exhibitions, performances, installations and digital diaries. Additionally, he is the author of a number of critical essays on various performance artists titled ‘’answering to’’. He has written the books ‘’The geography of water’’ (2006), ‘’Transporting memories’’ (2009), and ‘’An urban block’’ (2013). He has also athored multiple digital diaries about educational voyages, documentation and design workshops as well as personal stochastic evaluations of the urban environment and the open landscapes. His new, totally digital exhibition under the title ‘’Topiographia’’ (Topiography), is going to be uploaded on the web in late November. |

| 14:30-15:00 | Ψιλά γράμματα Παναγιώτης Χαρατζόπουλος | ΕΛΛΑΔΑ Γεννήθηκε το 1967 στην Αθήνα, σπούδασε γραφιστική στο ΤΕΙ Αθήνας και στη συνέχεια απέκτησε Master of Arts (Graphic Fine Arts) από το University of Kent στην Αγγλία. Ίδρυσε την Cannibal μαζί με το Γιάννη Κουρούδη το 1995, έχοντας ως στόχο τον εμπλουτισμό και την ανανέωση της ελληνικής τυπογραφίας. Όταν δεν σχεδιάζει γραμματοσειρές, επιμελείται γραφιστικές και πολυμεσικές εφαρμογές ή παρέχει συμβουλευτικές υπηρεσίες για μεγάλους πελάτες στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό, όπως Μουσεία και Οργανισμούς. Από το 2010 συμμετέχει ως Εργαστηριακός Συνεργάτης στη σχολή Γραφιστικής του Τ.Ε.Ι. Αθήνας στα μαθήματα της Τυπογραφίας. Έχει πολλές δημοσιεύσεις σε κλαδικά περιοδικά, σεμινάρια, εκθέσεις και ομιλίες σε επιστημονικά συνέδρια. |
| 15:30-16:00 | Βουτιά σ' ενα ΠΕΓΑ (Πρόγραμμα Επικαιροποίησης Γνώσεων Αποφοίτων) Λεώνη Βιδάλη | ΕΛΛΑΔΑ Γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα και σπούδασε Χαρακτική και Τυπογραφία–Τέχνη του Βιβλίου στην Ανωτάτη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών. Αποφοίτησε το 1980 με βραβείο Λιθογραφίας και βραβείο παρουσιασθέντων έργων. Το 1983-1986 πραγματοποίησε μεταπτυχιακό έργο στη Λιθογραφία με υποτροφία του Ιδρύματος Κρατικών Υποτροφιών. Το 1989 και το 1992 παρακολούθησε το Τμήμα Χαρακτικής–Multimedia στο Royal College of Art στο Λονδίνο και το 1998-1999 ήταν επισκέπτρια καθηγήτρια στο Advance Colour Printmaking Department στο New York University στη Νέα Υόρκη. Από το 1984 έως το 1998 δίδαξε Λιθογραφία στην Ανωτάτη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών και από το 2000 έως το 2012 δίδαξε, ανασυγκρότησε και εκσυγχρόνισε το Εργαστήριο Γραφικών Τεχνών–Τυπογραφίας και Τέχνης του Βιβλίου της ΑΣΚΤ. Από το 1995 έως το 2012 οργάνωνε συστηματικά κάθε χρόνο προγράμματα Erasmus-Socrates μεταξύ της ΑΣΚΤ και άλλων Ευρωπαϊκών Ιδρυμάτων. Το 2004 ίδρυσε τον Εκδοτικό Οργανισμό της Ανωτάτης Σχολής Καλών Τεχνών. Πραγματοποίησε ατομικές εκθέσεις και έχει πάρει μέρος σε 80 Μπιενάλε και Τριενάλε Χαρακτικής στην Ελλάδα, Νέα Υόρκη, Παρίσι, Λονδίνο, Μόσχα, Κρακοβία, Μπρατισλάβα, Σερβία, Λουξεμβούργο, Ουγγαρία, Σουηδία, Νορβηγία, Γερμανία. Από το 1980 ως το 2015 σχεδίασε, επιμελήθηκε και εικονογράφησε βιβλία τέχνης, καταλόγους εκθέσεων για μουσεία και γκαλερί στην Ελλάδα, Μιλάνο, Παρίσι, Λονδίνο και Νέα Υόρκη. | 15:30-16:00 | Στοιχεία τυπογραφικής χειρονομίας. Μηδείς τεμνέτω τα φύλλα Γιάννης Καρλόπουλος | ΕΛΛΑΔΑ Γεννήθηκε το 1967 στη Θεσσαλονίκη. Ξεκίνησε τις σπουδές του στο Τμήμα Γραφιστικής της ΣΓΤΚΣ του ΤΕΙ Αθήνας το 1984. Το διάστημα έως το 1991, οπότε και αποφοίτησε από την κατεύθυνση αφίσα-βιβλίο με καθηγητή τον Τ. Κατσουλίδη, εργάστηκε με ζωγράφους στον τομέα της γιγαντοαφίσσας κινηματογράφου και βυζαντινής τοιχογραφίας εκκλησιών στην Ελλάδα και την Κύπρο, παράλληλα παρακολούθησε τα σεμινάρια του Φωτογραφικού Κύκλου του Πλ. Ριβέλλη. Την περίοδο 1991-92, ως πτυχιούχος υπότροφος του ΙΚΥ, συνέχισε μεταπτυχιακό κύκλο σπουδών στο Παρίσι, στην Ecole Estienne πάνω στην ψηφιακή τυπογραφία-σελιδοποίηση και τον σχεδιασμό γραμμάτων. Έχει πραγματοποιήσει εισηγήσεις και παρουσιάσεις σε συνέδρια και σχολές κι έχει διδάξει για ένα χρόνο σε ιδιωτική σχολή Γραφιστικής. Παράλληλα ασχολείται με τη συλλογή τυπογραφικών πηγών (όπως γραφομηχανές, στένσιλς κ.ά.), τη φωτογραφία και κάπως λιγότερο με διάφορες χειρονακτικές τεχνικές εκτύπωσης. Σχεδιάζει κυρίως βιβλία, περιοδικά, εφημερίδες, καταλόγους καλλιτεχνών, ημερολόγια και γραμματοσειρές. Εχει συνεργαστεί κατα καιρούς με το Ιδρυμα ΔEΣTE, την YES! hotels και για ένα μικρό διάστημα με το Κ2design και τον οργανισμό Αθήνα 2004. Συμμετέχει στην Ελληνική Ψηφιακή Τυποθήκη και στην Ενωση Γραφιστών Ελλάδας και είναι μέλος του Εικαστικού Επιμελητηρίου. Μέλος της Ένωσης Γραφιστών Ελλάδας από το 2004, εξελέγη αναπληρωματικό μέλος στο ΔΣ της Ένωσης για τη διετία 2009-2010 και μέλος της Ελεγκτικής Επιτροπής της Ένωσης για τη διετία 2011-2012. Το 2010 εκδόθηκε το βιβλίο του "Με χαρτί & μολύβι" που παρουσίαζε αναλυτικά μια προτεινόμενη μεθοδολογία για την κοστολόγηση εργασιών οπτικής επικοινωνίας βασισμένη στην ήδη υπάρχουσα διεθνή πρακτική, ενώ έχει δώσει διαλέξεις τόσο για θέματα κοστολόγησης εργασιών οπτικής επικοινωνίας, όσο και τεχνολογικών εξελίξεων που αφορούν το design. Άρθρα του έχουν δημοσιευτεί κατά καιρούς σε κλαδικά μέσα. |
| 17:00-17:30 | Geranium Files: A research project for new approaches in multilingual neighbourhoods Bασίλης Γεωργίου | ΕΛΛΑΔΑ Graphic designer, illustrator and type designer. Vassilis is an independent graphic designer. Since 1997 he has worked in multiple creative studios, advertising agencies and in publishing houses. Since 2009 he has focused in editorial design. He has designed printed and digital publications. He also collaborates with fonts.gr since 2012 as a font designer. He lives and works in Athens, Greece. Katerina is an independent graphic designer, researcher and visiting tutor at Graphic Design Department, Technological Education Institute of Athens. Throughout the years she has worked in interdisciplinary projects in design industry and advertising and has collaborated with a variety of teams and individuals on diverse projects from brand identity, editorial design, to spatial design. Currently she is interested in the role of visual communication in building brand identities and she is investigating the links and the interferences between graphic design and urban space. She also explores the active role of Graphic Design (the visual and textual aspects of communication) at the social and political level. Her research interests focus on the visual identity of public space, the role of spontaneity in design process as well as design methodologies and mapping. She holds an MA in Critical theory and practice of Design from Goldsmiths University of London. She lives and works in Athens, Greece. Natassa is an independent graphic designer. Her design practice focuses on using the city as a source or as a medium in order to create new narratives and experiences. Her work ranges from print to spatial design and seeks editorial conversation. With a conceptual approach, she opts for witty, content-focused and research-driven design, across a mixed clientéle and (by happy chance) through interdisciplinary collaborations. Along with her design practice, she writes for design blogs and magazines and is involved in education and ongoing urban research projects, somewhere between Athens and Rotterdam. In 2013 her MDes graduation project City as a Vagabond guide won a Silver European Design Award, in 2014 and 2015 she was nominated as a greek young designer with three of her works and in 2015 she won an EBGE award on book design. She lives and works in Athens, Greece. |
| 17:30-18:00 | Metamorphabets Βίκτωρ Κοέν | ΗΠΑ Viktor Koen is an award-winning artist, designer and educator born in Thessaloniki, Greece. He holds a BFA from the Bezalel Academy of Arts & Design in Jerusalem and an MFA with honors from the School of Visual Arts in NYC. Koen is a regular contributor to leading publications like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and Nature magazine, serves on the graduate faculty of the School of Visual Arts and frequently lectures throughout the world. His prints are widely exhibited in galleries and museums in the United States, Europe, Japan, and Australia and are part of private and institutional collections. One-man shows include: Benaki Museum/Athens; United Photo Industries/NYC; Type Directors Club/NYC; The Coningsby Gallery/London; Strychnin Gallery/Berlin; Fraser Gallery/Washington, DC; Slovak National Museum/Bratislava; LeVall Gallery/Novosibirsk; Merry Karnowsky Gallery/Los Angeles and the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art/Thessaloniki. Koenʼs work is regularly featured in books and publications worldwide, and his distinctions include the Communication Arts Award of Excellence, Graphis Gold Awards, a First Prize Digital Hall of Fame, and Folio Gold Awards.
