The Institute for the Study of Typography and Visual Communication (ISTVC / IMETYΠOE) is an independent nonprofit research body, specialising in scientific research, study and documentation of the historical, theoretical and practical issues related to typography and visual communication, and of matters that concern the originators of intangible processes and the production of conventional and electronic documents in Cyprus and abroad.

ISTVC aims to promote the importance of such documents as cultural commodities; to publish journals, books and electronic documents as well as to establish a library-archive of conventional and electronic artefacts related to typography and visual communication; to develop and participate in research programmes in the fields of theory, history and practice of typography and visual communication education in collaboration with Cypriot and foreign scientists as well as to build long term and meaningful relationships among similar research bodies based in Cyprus and abroad; to provide high quality services to all interested parties at national and international levels. These may include courses, seminars, workshops and field trips directed to educators and professionals as well as specialised professional training and educational validation in the fields of typography and visual communication; to organise and promote scientific and cultural events, lectures, national and international conferences and exhibitions, and to establish awards and scholarships.

Library & Information Centre University of Patras

The Library and Information Centre of the University of Patras operates as an autonomous and decentralised service and constitutes the central point of information collection and dissemination. The Library aims at supporting the current research and teaching activities of the University through the provision of information resources and documentation in multiple formats (books, non-print and electronic material), while informing and guiding its users for its most efficient use. This body of information resources and documentation is also accessible to the public, as well as to other Libraries.
