LETTERROR
Erik van Blokland and Just van Rossum have studied
type design at the
Royal Academy for Fine & Applied Arts in The Hague. They
established 'LettError' in Berlin when working on the Beowolf
typeface. Now, more than ten years later, they still work
together on various projects such as typefaces, sites and
movies. Among their clients are the
Dutch PTT, MTV Europe, KPN (Dutch telecom), GAK (private
government branch), the province of South Holland (non private
government branch), Apple Computer and many others. Together
with Erik's oldest brother, Petr van Blokland, they developed
RoboFog, a programming tool for typedesigners. They have also
developed GifWrap, a system to include type in a website without
giving away fonts, BitPull, a way to make bitmapped type
incredibly flexible, as well as RandomFonts and FlipperFonts,
techniques to produce dynamic fonts. 'LettError' also hosts the
TypoMan and Crocodile show, which are recorded in front of a
live audience studio in the Netherlands. They were nominated
with the QuickDraw GX Award (1994) and the Charles Nypels Award
(2000).
