Lampros Kalampoukas
Dr Lampros Kalampoukas is the head of the Broadband Switching
division of UTStarcom, Inc. He joined UTStarcom in May 2003
through the acquisition of Xebeo Communications which he
co-founded in August 2000. During his tenure at Xebeo
Communications, he served as the Chief Technology Office and
directed the architecture, development and productization of a
multi-Terabit Multi-Service Packet Switching platform. Prior to
co-founding Xebeo, Dr. Kalampoukas served as member of the High
Speed Networks Research Department at Bell Laboratories. There,
he contributed to the architecture, design, and development of
high-speed and QoS-capable IP switches. In recognition of his
accomplishments, he was the recipient of the 1998 Bell
Laboratories President's Gold Award.
Lampros Kalampoukas is a recognized expert in the areas of
traffic management, congestion and flow control, protocol
performance, and network systems architecture. He has consulted
extensively on the architecture, design, and performance of
SONET, Field-Programmable, and switching platforms. A frequent
speaker at industry trade shows and technical conferences, Dr.
Kalampoukas has published more than 20 papers in prestigious
conferences and technical journals, and has several patents
awarded or pending. For his work on the design, development and
evaluation of highly efficient bandwidth and congestion
management algorithms in ATM networks he was awarded the Design
SuperCon 1997 Best Paper Award.
Dr Kalampoukas holds a BS in Computer Engineering from The
University of Patras, Greece, and an MSc and PhD degree in
Computer Engineering from the University of California, Santa
Cruz.
