Piero De Macchi
Piero began his professional career in 1956, working for the
Nebiolo typefoundry together with Aldo Novarese. In 1971 he
created the De Macchi Progetti Grafici studio, working on a
freelance basis with Fiat, Iveco, Ferrero, Olivetti, Caffarel,
Unione Industriale, Gruppo CIR, Costa Crociere. From 1990 until
1993 De Macchi was the Italian partner for the European DIDOT
Project, which scope was to train professionals in the field of
digital typography and lettering. In 1992 he established a
calligraphic association called Dal Segno alla Scrittura. In
2001 Seat Publishing asked him to design "Nomina", a font to set
the Italian telephone directories.
