Making Faces: Metal Type in the 21st Century - Deluxe DVD edition
The long-awaited deluxe edition of the Making Faces film by P22 Type Foundry's Richard Kegler is now ready for release.
This fascinating design documentary captures the personality and work process of the late Canadian graphic artist Jim Rimmer (1931-2010) on the almost lost art of pantographic type making.
The deluxe edition features subtitle options for 10 languages: English, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Portuguese(BR), Russian, Slovenian, & Spanish.
A second "Digital Copy" disc is included in 720p HD for Mac and Windows. Also included is a newly hand-set and hand-printed full specimen of the entire metal Stern typeface as cast by Jim Rimmer.
In addition, the package contains a piece of actual metal type cast from the material shown being created in the film itself. All of the bonus features (as included on the regular edition) are present, including a rare silent film of Frederic Goudy making a typeface in the early 20th century.
The packaging was letterpress printed in silver & black on chip(paper)board with a hand proofing press featuring original artwork by Keegan Meegan & Co.
This new edition of Making Faces will be made available for the first time anywhere to attendees of the 5th ICTVC conference.
