Panayiotis Haratzopoulos
Cannibal was established in the beginning of 1996. The company's initial founders were Panayiotis Haratzopoulos and Yiannis Kouroudis both of which are leading professionals in the field of graphic and typeface design. Two widely experienced and acknowledged designers, Yiannis Karlopoulos and Dimitris Arvanitis, joined the company later on and enriched Cannibal's typeface collection with both original and derivative typeface designs. Justin Howes
Justin Howes is a typographer, type designer, and historian. Recent book design projects have included the British Library’s new study of 'The Doves Press', by Marianne Tidcombe, an edition of William Tyndale's New Testament, and bibliophile editions for the Roxburghe Club. He is Chairman of the Friends of St Bride Printing Library. In 1998 ITC released his ITC Founder's Caslon, and he has since completed the series with an additional eleven sizes, marketed exclusively through H. W. Caslon & Company Limited. He co-edited Edward Johnston’s 'Lessons in Formal Writing' (1986), has written the definitive account of 'Johnston's Underground Type' (2000).

Alan Marshall
After fifteen years spent in various branches of the printing industry Alan Marshall obtained a Ph.D. in History from Grenoble University for a study of the development of early commercial phototypesetting. Recent editorial activities include an interactive educational computer game about Gutenberg and the invention of printing for the French multimedia producer Infogrames, the translation of Claude Mediavilla’s major study Calligraphy, and contributions to the forthcoming Dictionnaire encyclopedique du livre. Andreas Sophocleous
Andreas Cl. Sophocleous graduated from the Pafos gymnasium and the Paedagogical Academy of Cyprus. He studied Geography at the London University and completed an MA in Mass Communication at Denver University/USA (Fulbright scholarship). In January 1995 he got a PhD from the Department of Communication and Mass Media, Panteion University, Athens. His thesis is titled “The contribution of the First Cypriot Newspapers (1878-1883) to the Protection of Human Rights of the Greeks in Cyprus”. He has been Director of the Press and Information office of the Republic of Cyprus. He is a member of many professional and scientific unions in Cyprus and abroad and has participated in many conferences and international meetings. He has published articles and books on the Cypriot political issue, Communication, Mass Media and Geography. Since 1995 he teaches Communication and Journalism at Intercollege, Nicosia as an associate professor and is conducting research on the History of the Cypriot press.

Designing for reading
Jannis Stefanakis
Publisher of the magazine Neo Epipedo (since 1989), he
organized the first 'Panhellenic Comics Festival' in
Athens and also established the Heirokinito
publications. He has published four collector's books
about the poetry of famous poets illustrated by his
engravings and has produced the Apokalypsi tou Ioannou
(folio size), where seven coloured woodcuts were
included as well as a sketch and four engravings for
E. Kaknavatos' Akari. Mr Stefanakis has taught
illustration and free-hand sketching at AKTO college
in Athens. He now works as an educator and teaches
free-hand sketching and painting at art studios in
Rethymno, Crete.

Ìaria Tsantsanoglou
Maria Tsantsanoglou has graduated from the Department of English Literature, Aristotle University, Thessaloniki. She holds a PhD in Russian Literature, Lomonosov University, Moscow. She has done research on the Russian Avant-garde, especially worked on visual poetry and the Cubofuturistic book as a product of a synthesis of arts. Maria has served as a Press Attache at the Greek Embassy in Moscow and since 1995 teaches at the Lomonosov University, Moscow. She has organized exhibitions of contemporary art in Moscow and in Greece. Today she works as the curator of the Costakis collection at the State Museum of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki and teaches Russian Culture of the 20th century at the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki. She has translated Russian classic and contemporary texts into Greek.

Michael Twyman
Emeritus Professor of Typography & Graphic
Communication at the University of Reading, UK. His
research focuses on 19th century printing, and
specifically on the early history of lithography.
Among his books are included: Lithography 1800-1850,

lithographed music and The British Library guide to
printing. Professor Twyman has recently completed and
edited Maurice Rickard's The Encyclopedia of ephemera.

she has been working in the rare book restoration
field as well as a bookbinder designer. Some of her

Gerard Unger
Graphic designer, typographer and type designer who
also teaches at the University of Reading and the
Gerrit Rietveld Academy. He has been designing digital
typefaces since 1974 (such as Flora, Swift 2.0,
Amerigo, Oranda, Argo, Gulliver, Paradox and Coranto).
Professor Unger is responsible for the typeface for
the new Dutch road signs and a signage system for Rome
was based on his typeface Capitolium. He was awarded
with the 'H.N. Werkman Prize' and the 'Maurits
Enschedeé Prize'.

Panos Vassiliou
Panos Vassiliou has conducted numerous seminars for leading Canadian companies and institutions such as Bank of Nova Scotia, Royal Bank and Sony Canada. Two years after his graduation from the University of Toronto he pursued a teaching career at George Brown College, Canada, first in the Information Systems Department and later in the Media & Graphic Arts Department. He has been co-founder and Creative Director for the Canadian design firm AdHaus, former Publisher of the monthly magazine DNA and Secretary-General for the Hellenic Canadian Congress (Ontario), in charge of cultural and community affairs. Has been designing typefaces since 1993, including commercial fonts as well as commissions from DDB, National Geographic and IKEA. He established Parachute in 1999 as a collaboration of creative minds around the world, in order to offer premium quality fonts to professionals in the graphic arts industry. Two Parachute typefaces, PF ManicAttack and PF Libera, have recently won the national type design competition “EVGE awards 2002”.
Vlassis Vellios
He has worked as a freelance professional designer in
many fields until 1971 and has contributed in
developing AKTO, an educational institution in Greece
in the field of Art & Design. He has been
President of the National Union of Schools of Arts for
10 years. In 2000 he became Emeritus Dr of the
Middlesex University in the field of educational
organizing and planning.

Evripides Zantides
Evripides Zantides has a B.A degree in Graphic Communication and a Masters Degree in Graphic Fine Arts. He has worked as a graphic designer and he has been involved in a number of international exhibitions. His work, as a graphic fine artist, has been shown in England, Italy, Greece and Cyprus. He is the Country Delegate of Cyprus for ATypi and a Senior Lecturer of Graphic Communication at Intercollege, in Nicosia, Cyprus.
