The workshop focuses on "italics". At the start participants are informed about what contemporary calligraphy is and are acquainted with the three basic "schools", ie the latin, arabic and the chinese. Then, they execute a writing exercise. They do all these through slides that show the work of well-known calligraphers and videos produced by Michael Semoglou.
The second day is a day of work and exercise and everybody should finish with inked hands!
Michael Semoglou is a calligrapher and typeface designer. He runs his own typographic firm called 'cannot not design'. Michael writes and lectures about calligraphy, typographic design and typeface design.
