Marianna Kafaridou
Marianna Kafaridou holds a Masters degree (M.Ed) in Education from the College of New Jersey in the United States, a BA degree in Visual Communications from the University of Wolverhampton in the U.K, a Bsc degree in Civil Engineering from the Higher Technical Institute of Cyprus, and a Diploma in Dance Studies from the Laban Centre for Movement and Dance in the United Kingdom. She is an Assistant Professor in Visual Communications at Intercollege, Nicosia Cyprus, and she has served as the Coordinator of the Department of Design, for seven years. She is a practising graphic artist, a consultant and is active in commercial design work. She also represented Cyprus in European Art Festivals, and her work has been accepted in International Art Exhibitions locally and abroad ie: the 'Biennale of Young Artists from European Countries and Countries of the Mediterranean' in Turin, the '4th International Miniature Graphics Triennial', in Finland and 'The Moscow International Biennale of Graphic Design'. Few of the places she presented her work are Cyprus, Greece, Austria, Spain, London and United States. She has been involved in several European projects and she is active in community work. Her research interests include semiology, meanings and functions of type formats, art and design theories and their translation within the visual language of graphic design and the sigh system of typography.
