Keith Chi-Hang Tam
Keith Chi-hang Tam was born and raised in Hong Kong and has lived and worked in the UK and Canada. He is a typographer, type designer, and design educator currently practicing in Hong Kong, China. After teaching at the Emily Carr Institute in Vancouver for three years, Keith took up a full-time lecturer position at the School of Design, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2006. Keith's pedagogy focuses on typography, with particular interest in detail typography, typographic structures and designing with complex information. He also teaches typography fundamentals through calligraphy and lettering. Keith's design and research interests include book and editorial design, information design, typeface design and designing for multiple languages. He is the designer of Arrival, a highly legible sanserif typeface designed for directional signing. In 2005, Keith co-founded Type Initiative with Greek type designer Michail Semoglou, and their typefaces are on sale at the type co-op Village (vllg.com). Keith holds a B Des in Communication Design from the Emily Carr Institute in Vancouver, Canada and an MA in Typeface Design from the Department of Typography & Graphic Communication at the University of Reading, UK.
