Louise McWhinnie
Louise McWhinnie is a Lecturer in Visual Communication at the University of Technology Sydney. Prior to lecturing in Australia, she worked as a graphic designer and lecturer in London and spent two and a half years as a seconded course director, establishing and developing the Central Saint Martins graphic design course in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Louise teaches and lectures at both under-graduate and post-graduate levels across a broad range of predominantly print-based forms of visual communication, her specialist areas being Typography and also Information Design. Her particular research interests reside within the area of international design and design education, cultural and linguistic diversity within visual communication educational practice and of course Typography. Louise has recently completed her doctorate on the subject of visual communication as studied by International Asian students within the context of Australian universities. Her particular interest in Asia has led Louise to present a number of lectures and workshops in China, and the development of Asian and Australian cross-cultural typographic educational projects is something that she is keen to develop.
